- Once you reach 1,049 miles, notify Fitness Center staff so your mileage can be verified.
- After verification, you’ll receive your challenge incentive prize.
Suggested Pace
To finish within six months, aim for about 40 miles per week or 175 miles per month.
Option 2:
Climb Alaska’s 14ers
Take on the combined elevation of 11 of Alaska’s towering peaks! Complete a total of 193,211 feet of elevation gain, or climb 19,321 floors on a stepmill, within one year.
Featured Peaks:
Denali • Mount St. Elias • Mount Foraker • Mount Bona • Mount Blackburn • Mount Sanford • Mount Fairweather • Mount Hubbard • Mount Bear • Mount Hunter • Mount Alverstone
How It Works
- Complete 193,211 feet of outdoor elevation gain OR 19,321 indoor floors.
- Indoor progress can be completed using a stepmill.
- Outdoor progress is tracked by elevation gained in feet.
- Participants must log their own progress at the Fitness Center front desk.
- Your first logged entry becomes your official start date.
- You have 1 year (365 days) to complete the challenge.
- Once you’ve reached the required elevation or number of floors, notify Fitness Center staff for verification.
- After verification, you’ll receive your challenge incentive prize.
Suggested Pace
To complete the challenge within one year, aim for approximately 53 floors per day, 372 floors per week, or 1,610 floors per month.
For outdoor elevation, that’s approximately 529 feet per day, 3,710 feet per week, or 16,100 feet per month.
Option 3:
Lift JBER’s Airframes
Put your strength to the test by lifting the combined maximum takeoff weight of JBER’s airframes: 1.2 million pounds!
Don’t worry, you don’t have to lift it all at once. Every rep counts toward your cumulative total.
How It Works
- Accumulate a total of 1.2 million pounds lifted within 1 year (365 days).
- Calculate each exercise using: Weight × Reps × Sets = Total Weight Lifted
- Add the totals from your exercises together to determine your total weight lifted for the day.
- Participants must log their own daily totals at the Fitness Center front desk.
- Your first logged entry becomes your official start date.
- Entries made after your 365-day deadline will not count.
- Once you’ve reached 1.2 million pounds, notify Fitness Center staff for verification.
- After verification, you’ll receive your challenge incentive prize.
Example
Bench Press: 100 lbs × 10 reps × 3 sets = 3,000 lbs
Squat: 150 lbs × 10 reps × 3 sets = 4,500 lbs
Your total for those two exercises would be 7,500 lbs toward your 1.2-million-pound goal.
Suggested Pace
To reach 1.2 million pounds within one year, aim for approximately 100,000 lbs per month or 23,100 lbs per week.
