Recreation Assistant (Swim Instructor)

This position will be assigned to the Buckner Fitness Center & Elmendorf Fitness Center Pool.

  • Provides swimming lessons and instruction to groups of adults and/or children, or to individual adults or children.
  • Instructs patrons on rules and procedures for safe swimming.
  • Works in swimming pool environment where lifeguards are present to perform lifesaving activity. As necessary works as a lifeguard.
  • Assists lifeguards in inspecting pools for safe conditions, and perform other duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming pool to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, and pool decks. Incumbent will periodically be required to demonstrate lifesaving ability during in-service training for one hour twice a month for a total of two hours.

Laborer 

This position will be assigned to Moose Run Golf Course.

  • Performs significant labor involved with golf course grounds maintenance.
  • Operates heavy, complex riding lawnmowers and similar types of specialized mowing equipment.
  • Determines and selects the most appropriate type of equipment to accomplish each phase of the work in the most productive and cost-effective manner.
  • The laborer installs forms and lays walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems; and may be asked to operate mowers, dump trucks or other equipment. Performs other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

Travel Clerk

This position will be assigned to  Information, Tickets and Travel (ITT).

  • Provides travel information and arranges accommodations for tourists: Answers inquiries, offers suggestions, and provides descriptive literature pertaining to trips, excursions, sports events, and plays.
  • Discusses routes, time schedules, rates, and types of accommodations with patrons to determine preferences and makes reservations.
  • May also be subject to assist the supervising Recreation Specialist in performing and instructing Outdoor Adventure Program tours and instructional classes to include but not limited to: ATV and snowmobile operation, white water rafting, fishing, camping, kayaking, hiking, bicycling and canoeing.

Child and Youth Program Assistant

DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE

  • Accountable for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth.
  • Provides care/supervision, oversight and accountability for program participants.
  • Multiple Schedules – Guaranteed a minimum of 20 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week.

NAF

The Human Resources Office (HRO) is designated to administer the NAF personnel program. There are two types of employment categories for NAF positions, Regular and Flexible.

  • Flexible category employees: Work schedules that depend on the need of the activity. These employees may work anywhere from 0-40 hours per week.
  • Regular category employees: Have regular work schedules between 20 and 40 hours per week depending on the position.

The Civilian Personnel Office (CPO) is designated to act as a liaison between the Air Force Personnel Center and civilian personnel at JBER, Alaska. CPO provides assistance for current and prospective civilian employees in a wide variety of areas. Services include, but are not limited to:
